Experimental weaving, utilizing the TC 1 and 2 loom
I designated my work to accomplish both a narrative and structural exploration through the usage of the TC 2 loom. Narratives were an important experiment as I learned about the TC 1 & 2 loom capabilities. My woven samples include images of the historic Bracero program, my hometown gang’s graffiti initials, and past images of my mother and father. Finally, my exploration of structure showcases woven samples feature elastic, S-Yarn, wire, monofilament, and cord. Experimentations are documented below.

Weaving Structure
Producing woven structural capabilities by utilizing metal wire, elastic, S yarn and Z yarn as my weft picks. With the usage of elastic and s / z yarn, the woven textile begins to act like a knit, where as the usage of metal wire allows the textile to hold form and “memory”.
Experimental “memory weaving” was crafted by weaving wire and acrylic weft with cotton warp. The material can be formed and hold shape (memory). Woven on a TC2 loom:
