When I First Heard Them, I Thought They Were Fireworks | 2023

Composed of handwoven cotton and wool blend canvace lace made on an 8 - harness floor loom. The title of this piece, “When I First Heard them, I Thought They Were Fireworks”, was born from a memory of a high school classmate mistaking gunshots from a drive by to fireworks. This piece features a single “Bullet hole” motif outlined by hand applied kakishibu.
