The Boy Who Dreamt Of Losing Teeth | FW 2015

Showcased at Maker City Los Angeles in 2015, “The Boy Who Dreamt of Losing Teeth” is Rene Camarillo’s first professional collection. This Fall Winter Menswear collection is inspired by a personal psychiatric hospital discharge. Fabrication selected for this collection is compiled of various melancholy driven blue wools, leather trims, and hand crafted metal masks adorned with moths and butterflies; phototaxis organisms that move in a direction towards light. The Collection is meant to display confidence with its subtle play with dark tones mixed with brighter colors and bold shapes. The notable balances between the subtle shades of melancholic indigo blues and striking luminescent oranges was purposeful. Models walked the runway baring bruised limbs, black eyes, and busted lips (makeup) and various significant pieces of the collection featured dead moths sewn onto the linings of the garment, behind clear vinyl. A semiotic for finding direction towards light.

The collection showcased eleven looks and twenty two pieces all hand patterned and self constructed by Rene Camarillo.
